As a person in my 40s, I was very young during the hieght of the AIDS Crisis, but I remember it well. I remember hearing about HIV and how it was this scary and deadly thing. I was a child, so I didn't fully understand it, or the ways that prejudice and discrimination exacerbated the problem. I didn't know what "stigma" or a "gay disease" was as a child. I do now. I've been around and learned from my elders who walked through the worst of those days. I've learned from their strength, their resiliency, and activism.
In a way, Its amazing how far we have come in only a few decades. We have treatements that are life saving, and now we even have preventative medications such as PrEP. Of course, these discoveries, as well as the direct services such as housing or medical assistence to affected individuals cost money. For this reason, I am am asking you to join me in donating. We all have something we can give - some are scientist, some are care providers, others are educators, and some are donors. Won't you join me in the later?
