It's that time of year, again!
As some of you may know, this will be the 29th year that I have raised funds with AIDS Walk Atlanta, and for the majority of that, I have teamed with AIDGwinnett, which is now part of Positive Impact Health Centers. Every year, I am humbled to see the hard and important work being done on behalf of those infected with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones and support. Every year, I shamelessly beg for donations, and every year, y'all respond so generously. It truly is heartening to know that so many people care, and realize, that while there are better treatments for HIV now than there were 27 years ago, there still is no cure. There's still a lot of work to be done.
People ask me why I do this every year. The simple answer is because I can. Shameless begging somehow seems trifle, compared to the folks who are in the trenches and personally involved with patient care, education, testing and advocacy. But shameless begging seems to be my gift, and without my (and that of a whole lot of other people) shameless begging, there would be no money to work with. So that's what I do.
The Walk this year will be Saturday, September 24th at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. If you are interested in joining our team, go to aidswalkatlanta.org and register under team name Positive Impact Health Centers. We'd love to have you!
Thank you all for your continued support!
