Why AID Atlanta?
My efforts benefit AID Atlanta, the city's oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization, providing lifesaving services to thousands of people living with and at risk for HIV. Their work includes free testing, access to PrEP and treatment, housing and mental health support, education and outreach, and advocacy to end stigma and health inequities.
Why Atlanta?
The numbers are staggering:
- The South accounts for over 50% of all new HIV cases, and Georgia consistently ranks in the top 1-5 states.
- Atlanta is an HIV hotspot, with the third highest rate of new diagnoses among major US cities (after Memphis and Miami).
- HIV disproportionately impacts Black and LGBTQ communities, especially young Black gay and bisexual men.
- Social stigma, poverty, racism, and lack of access to healthcare remain major drivers of this epidemic in our city.
Will you please help me support AID Atlanta with a donation? All donations are tax-deductible, and donating online is safe and easy. Visit my fundraising page to donate or register to join me at the event.
Thank you in advance for your generous support!
