You already know what a challenging time this is. Attacks on transgender people, elimination of programs that support black and brown communities, threats against immigrants and denial of the benefits of basic public health strategies.
All of these actions hurt our communities and threaten to undue nearly 45 years of progress in the fight against AIDS.
That's why I'm asking you to join me in fighting back!
Together we can make this year's AIDS Walk Atlanta a statement of hope, resistance and determination.
I became an activist under the banner of Silence = Death.
That spirit of defiance has remained with me over the decades, just as it has for so many of you.
Yes, I'm asking you to make a donation to support the vital work of Georgia Equality. We lead the fight at the State Legislature. We work with elected officials at all levels to understand the needs of those living with HIV and the organizations who serve them. We work strategically and intentionally to change the political environment in Georgia.
I'm also asking you to make a commitment to show up on September 27th.
Too many in our community have forgotten about the ongoing HIV epidemic. Imagine the statement we can make together if a record crowd of 1,300 shows up in Piedmont Park. We will show Atlanta and the State of Georgia that we've faced a hostile federal government before and we will not allow those challenges and barriers that they throw our way to diminish our number one goal:
Seeing an end to AIDS in our lifetime!
