My mom, Gwen Whitehead, was the heartbeat of our community. From Mays High School, local churches, rec centers, and organizations, she showed up with love, joy, and a deep commitment to service. She started me on this path at age 4, and even though she’s no longer with us, her spirit continues to guide everything I do.
Because of her, I helped found Bridge of Light, a nonprofit that helps unhoused individuals and vulnerable families transition back to self-sufficiency. We offer hygiene products, clothing, mobile showers, laundry services, mental health support, and currently serve 7 schools in Atlanta. We meet people where they are — with dignity.
This year, I’m walking in the AIDS Walk Atlanta, where every dollar I raise is matched and goes directly to Bridge of Light. I’m walking for those living with HIV, for those we’ve lost, and for the future we’re building — where no one is forgotten.
