Why I'm Running
For nearly two decades, I’ve worked behind the researchers, providers, and advocates who are improving HIV care and prevention. I’ve seen the science evolve and the landscape shift — but I’ve also seen the stubborn reality that HIV is still devastating lives right here at home. Now, I’m stepping out from behind the scenes to support AID Atlanta as a volunteer — and I’m asking for your support.
Why AID Atlanta?
AID Atlanta is the city's oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization, providing lifesaving services to thousands of people living with and at risk for HIV. Their work includes free testing, access to PrEP and treatment, housing and mental health support, education and outreach, and advocacy to end stigma and health inequities.
Why Atlanta?
The numbers are staggering:
- The South accounts for over 50% of all new HIV cases, and Georgia consistently ranks in the top 1-5 states.
Atlanta is an HIV hotspot, with the third highest rate of new diagnoses among major US cities (after Memphis and Miami).
HIV disproportionately impacts Black and LGBTQ+ communities, especially young Black gay and bisexual men.
- Social stigma, poverty, racism, and lack of access to healthcare remain major drivers of this epidemic in our city.
Let's Do This Together
With nearly 40,000 people in Atlanta living with HIV, every step we take and every donation we receive makes a difference in saving lives. Thank you for supporting me, AID Atlanta, and the thousands of people who rely on them every year.
If you are unable to donate online, please print out a donation form.
