I'm so excited to participate as a first-time walker in this year's AIDS Walk on September 26 at Piedmont Park. As a full-spectrum doula based in Georgia, I find it imperative to support maternal health and women's wellness organizations in the metro Atlanta community like CBWW.
Studies show that Black women are three times more likely to die due to childbirth complications than our White counterparts. This statistic is one of the many reasons why I chose to become a birth worker; I desire to educate and empower my community by providing the resources, support, and tools they need in order to make informed decisions, resulting in a life where one can thrive and not just survive.
One of the resources I suggest to the women and families I serve is the Center for Black Women's Wellness! For more than three decades, CBWW has created a legacy built on trust, community, and ethical care. Programs like Maternal & Child Health and the Wellness Clinic & Education provide vital prenatal and postpartum support for those that are uninsured or underinsured. It's because of this that I choose to walk for the women and families that can greatly benefit from the services CBWW has to offer.
I invite you to join me by registering for my team today! Thank you in advance for your support.
