Since Donald Trump became the 47th President, critical funding for HIV/AIDS prevention and care has been slashed. Experts now project:

• Up to 10.8 million more new HIV infections

• 2.9 million additional AIDS-related deaths globally by 2030

• Up to 143,000 new HIV infections in the U.S. alone

These cuts are especially dangerous for the LGBTQIA+ community, which is already disproportionately affected and faces a life expectancy gap of 12.1 years compared to straight individuals.

That’s why I’m participating in this year’s AIDS Walk — to raise money for organizations that are saving lives, providing care, and fighting for equity in the face of injustice.
