Why I’m Walking

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for considering supporting me in AIDS Walk Atlanta & Music Festival.

As a gay man who takes PrEP, HIV prevention is something that is personal to me. PrEP has given me an important tool to protect my own health, but it has also shown me how important it is for people to have access to knowledgeable, judgment-free healthcare, HIV testing, prevention education, and other resources.

That is why I’m walking.

Organizations in Atlanta are doing critical work every day to make HIV prevention and care more accessible to our community. From PrEP and HIV/STI testing to education, outreach, treatment, and support services, these programs can literally change and save lives. AID Atlanta, for example, provides HIV prevention services, PrEP, testing, treatment, and supportive services throughout the community. 

But access matters. Awareness matters. And making sure people know that HIV prevention is available matters.

I’m walking for the people we have lost, for the people living with HIV today, and for the people who deserve the opportunity to protect their health without stigma, shame, or barriers to care.

As someone who personally benefits from HIV prevention, I know that these resources aren’t just statistics or programs on a page. They can have a real impact on someone’s life.

I’m asking you to walk with me by making a donation. Every contribution helps support the work happening in our community to prevent new HIV infections and provide care and support to people living with HIV.
